Who is my homeroom teacher?

This Thursday, August 27th around 4 pm, you will receive your child’s welcome email from their teacher. Please know teachers have been busy planning and preparing and cannot wait to meet your child. Much work has also gone into classroom placements with many factors considered to ensuring the best possible for all learners. If you haven't received an email from your child’s teacher by 6 pm, please email me at erlamontagne@cbe.ab.ca.

If your child is with a teacher they were not expecting or with new peers, please give your child time and allow them to meet new people. This is a great opportunity to expand their circle of friends and experience another teacher. Usually after a week, they will have settled right in and met some amazing new friends. Grade Teams will also be very collaborative, and students will have opportunities to be with one another during other times in their day. Remind them how brave they are and that nervous feelings are normal and expected, even teachers experience them going back to work!

General Information – What to Bring & School Supplies

Thank you for supporting your child’s return to school by sending them with:

  • labeled backpack
  • water bottle
  • healthy snack
  • lunch, if they stay at school for lunch

All learning supplies such as pencils, glue, paper etc. are provided by the school. The fee for supplies will be posted to your MyCBE account once school starts.

Students will have designated doors to enter and exit the building. They will learn and practice these doors during the first few days so it is familiar. If you drop off and pick up your child this is where you will bring them in the morning and pick them up afterschool.

First Day Meeting Spot

On Monday starting at 8:50 am, homeroom teachers will be outside ready to greet your excited child(ren)! Please refer to attached map for grade meeting spots.

  • First Day Meeting Spots | 2026-2027 First Day Meeting Spots 2026 2027
  • Grade One: Meet on the compound (concrete slab), next to the playground (please not on the playground).
  • Grade Two: Meet on the North side of the building – our former Kindergarten students will know the spot as the mud kitchen area.
  • Grade Three: Meet on the grass behind the basketball nets, at the bottom of the hill.
  • Grade Four: Meet on the south side of the field, on the south side of the playground.
  • Grade Five: Meet up the hill on the soccer field.

If your child is in Kindergarten, you will be meeting at the front of the school at your staggered entry time. You should have received a Kindergarten specific email.

First Day Parking

I anticipate it being very busy for drop-offs, with buses and pedestrian traffic on our first day. Please be mindful that we all have the same goal to ensure students arrive safely. The front of the school and on the other side of the staff parking lot (on the west side of the road - there are signs) is reserved for bus parking only – PLEASE do not stop for any drop offs, no matter how quick you make it!

There is parking with a short walk over at the Marshall Springs entrance to Fish Creek Park. It would be a great place to park if you plan to drive on the first day of school. https://maps.app.goo.gl/62LhQcSFrrQAtreq5

Bus Students

Buses will be running for grades one to five students starting the first day of school. If your child will be riding the bus on the first day, please ensure they know which bus letter they are riding. For the younger students, we recommend attaching it to their backpack or even writing it on their hand with a sharpie.

If your child is getting dropped off in the morning, but then will be riding the bus home, please ensure they know their bus letter and share that information with their teacher.

Families who have registered for a bus, you can find bus route, stop location and stop time information through your MyCBE account.

Absences & Early Pick Ups or Drop Offs

If your child is going to be absent, late or leaving early for an appointment, please inform the office at 403-817-3428 or email drfredamiller@cbe.ab.ca

If you are picking up a child during the day, please inform the office and your child’s teacher ahead of the time and we will do our best to have them ready to go.  Thank you in advance for your on-going support.

Save the Date – Open House

Thursday, September 24 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The first school council & enrichment society meeting will follow at 5:30 pm.

We look forward to seeing our amazing students on their first day of school
