We prioritize environmental stewardship at Dr. Freda Miller School. Teachers use core routines, integrate land-based and place-based learning, and teach inquiry skills for learning and life. Students are out on the land regularly for Outdoor Learning and Arts classes and teachers use the natural environment to enhance curriculum. The storm water pond and Fish Creek Provincial Park are outdoor classrooms.
Teachers are learning about the history and development of Fish Creek Provincial Park and are building relationships and partnerships with Friends of Fish Creek. Our Professional Development gives us opportunities to work with experts so we can pass along our knowledge to students and families.
We are proud to be recognized as a LEED school.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED® is an international symbol of sustainability excellence and green building leadership. LEED’s proven and holistic approach helps virtually all building types lower carbon emissions, conserve resources, and reduce operating costs by prioritizing sustainable practices.
