Dear Families,
We want to thank our Grade 2 team for a fantastic assembly where they shared the connections between Orange Shirt Day and our school emblem and logo, The Bear. We hope you’ve been watching the Instagram feeds to see highlights of academic programming here at Dr. Freda Miller School.
Thank you as well to the many families that joined us for the Open House. If you were not able to get your yearbook, there is a second pick up time scheduled at 5:30 pm on October 17, just before the School Council Meeting which starts at 6:00 pm.
Our focus this week is learning about Terry Fox and bringing families together for the annual run on Friday, October 4 at noon. You are welcome to run, walk or cheer from the sidelines! (No bikes or strollers please) Let's hit our target of raising $500, we are half way there!

School Enrichment Society Annual General Meeting
- All parents/guardians are welcome to attend the upcoming meeting for the Dr. Freda Miller School Enrichment Society.
- Elections will be held for Executive positions for the on our School Enrichment Society
- Dr. Freda Miller School Council and School Enrichment Society meetings are held on Thursdays on the following dates: Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Jan 23, Feb. 20, Apr. 3, May 1, June 5. All parents/guardians are welcome to any or all meetings. Meetings are held in the staffroom from 6:00 - 7:30 pm
School Enrichment Society needs help with the Casino!
The Dr. Freda Miller School Enrichment Society needs 20 people to help with their Casino.
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
- General Manager: Easiest job! Watch cashier payouts, fill positions for others who need a break.
- Banker: Controls cash and chip inventory and watches cashier payouts
- Cashier: Redeems player chips for cash
- Chip Runner: Delivers chips from Banker to the gaming table
- Count Room Staff : Sorts, counts and inputs money amounts into the cash counter and computer
No experience is required - all jobs are VERY easy and supported by our advisor. Volunteering at casinos is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet other parents at the school or to catch up with friends working a paired position. Volunteers also enjoy free food during their shift from the casino restaurant.
