• Tuesday October 31- This is a regular day of learning. Students are allowed to wear their Halloween costume. (no weapon like items or masks).  We do not celebrate Halloween at school with parties, parades and/or food. 
• Thursday, November 9, 2023 - System Indigenous Educational Professional Learning Day for Staff - No School for Students 
• Friday, November 10 - Tuesday November 14 - Fall Break - Schools are Closed 
• Wednesday, November 15 - School Resumes 
• Thursday, November 16 - Retakes and Class Photos | School Council and SES Meeting 
• Thursday, November 23 - Evening Learning Conferences 
• Friday, November 24 - Learning Conferences- No School for Students 

Reminders:  

• Please ensure your child has clothing for outdoors. We had a lot of students arrive in hoodies in the rain this week! 

• The "park and go zone" just south of the school is a 10 minute zone. Please continue to be mindful of this parking restriction.

• We have 2 buses that need to park at the front of the school every day. Please do not drop off students in the bus zone.

Shoes and Clothing 

• Please ensure your child as warm outdoor wear. (Hat, mitts, waterproof shoes and a jacket) 

• Please make sure that your child has extra clothes (pants, shirts, socks, under garments) in their backpack. With the weather change and classes outside for Outdoor Learning & Arts (OLA) or heading to Fish Creek Provincial Park or the pond, students are in constant need of a change of clothes.   

• We go outside daily unless it is –20 degrees or colder.

• We are also looking for donations of gently used sweatpants and socks for ages 4-12.  

Our Lost and Found is Still Overflowing! 

We set out 3 tables of lost and found items last week and very few items were claimed. We have included photos of 70 + items, in the 4 images sent by School Messenger. If an item belongs to you, please send a note to us so we can get it back to your child. 

Please note  

• Item # and brief description 
• Your child’s name, grade and teacher’s name 

Unclaimed items will go to charity at the end of the month.  

School Council and School Enrichment Society Updates 

• Please note the AGM for the School Enrichment Society is this Thursday.  
• The Dr. Freda Miller School Enrichment Society AGM will be held on Thursday October 19, 2023, This follows the school council meeting at 6:30pm 
• We are looking for parents to fill the positions of secretary and fundraising coordinator for the 2023/2024 school year.  
• We would love for you to join us!

• Thank you to the parents who took the survey for fun lunches and for the yearbook. We had just over 100 responses.  
• Mr. Hoover will be sharing about Grade 5 programming at the upcoming meeting.   
•  A reminder that you are invited to attend any or all the meetings. They run from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. If items run overtime, we add them to the next meeting. 
• We appreciate the time our families take to connect with us and one another at these meetings.
