Great School Council and SES Meeting
On Thursday, we had the privilege of being part of a very lively discussion about what makes for rich and meaningful learning experiences for students at Dr Freda Miller school. Parents shared their thoughts about the importance of rigor and academics, citizenship, stewardship and experiences that support the whole child. Parents had an opportunity to learn about our Outdoor Learning and Arts (OLA) program from Mr. Demman and were able to see how outcomes for music are being met with his innovative programming.
Through Mr. Demman’s presentation, we were able to share with our parents our approach to student self-regulation, how we are developing academics, soft skills and life skills and how teachers integrate math and literacy with outdoor learning. We had an excellent discussion about grit, resiliency, engagement, critical, thinking skills and problem-solving skills necessary for learning and life.
We are grateful for the thought-provoking questions that arise at our school council meetings. We hope that you can join us for some excellent discussions with this forward-thinking group of parents who make a difference here at Dr. Freda Miller school. Compliments to the group of parents who show up at our meetings to learn about school programs and programming. Their voices are valued and heard.
Learning Conferences Next Week - Please Plan to Attend
Learning Conferences are being held next Thursday evening and Friday. We hope that all parents attend as conferences are part of our formal process of ongoing communication about how your child is doing in school. Report cards will be written in January and will be posted in your MyCBE account at the end of January.
Students are encouraged to attend conferences to help set academic goals. Please access the booking system through your MyCBE account. If you are having trouble booking, please call the office so we can walk you through the process.
