Report Cards available Online on Tuesday January 30, 2024

By the end of January, your child’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Teachers may also share learning progress through parent/teacher conferences, your child’s daily work and assignments, and other ongoing communication with you.

What to Expect in Your Child’s Report Card

CBE began implementing the new Alberta Education Curriculum:

Fall 2022 start:

  • Mathematics (K-3)
  • English Language Arts and Literature (K-3)
  • Physical Education and Wellness (K-6)

Fall 2023 start:

  • Mathematics (4-6)
  • English Language Arts and Literature (4-6)
  • French Language Arts and Literature (K-3)
  • Science (K-3)

In the new curriculum, some things students learn may be new or may have previously been taught in higher grades. Students could be missing foundational pieces from previous grades, and their report card indicators might not be as high as before. This is expected when there is a new curriculum. It might take more than one school year to build these foundational skills. Even though each grade has its own curriculum, many ideas come up again each year, helping students to build on what they already know and do well.

Teachers continue to make learning interesting and inspiring and are adapting to students' needs during this transition. As always, if you have questions about your child's learning, please reach out to their teacher.

Kindergarten Report Cards

Kindergarten teachers will report progress in English Language Arts and Literature (ELAL) and Math only this semester. A full report card will be completed for all Kindergarten students in June.

Attendance on Report Cards

Attendance for Grades 1-5 is taken twice daily (Morning & Afternoon). If your child is absent a full day, it records as 2 absences. The number of absences is reported on the report card.

Evergreen Theatre – Snow White and the Seven Regions

Thanks to our Dr. Freda Miller School Enrichment Society, we are going to be entertained and learn about climate change through another amazing Evergreen Theatre production this week. Here is the description of the show:

Snow White and the Seven Regions: Neve is a small-town snowboarder with a big dream.  Better known on the boarding circuit by her nickname, Snow White, she desperately wants to make the national team someday, just like her hero the E-Ville Queen. As she trains to qualify for the Alberta Winter Games, she finds herself struggling with changing weather conditions, and her own highly competitive nature. With the help of some new pals from the seven regions of Canada, and her kooky sidekick smartphone, Snow White learns that we all benefit from working together to solve problems big and small!  This fun-filled environmental musical adventure is the latest installment in Evergreen Theatre's Eco-Tales series in which beloved traditional tales are retold featuring popular music parodies while educating students on current social and environmental issues.

Loose Parts and MakerSpace Collection Project

As you know our school uses a wide variety of materials for projects, activities and learning tasks. We need your help to collectively build our supplies and loose parts for our Maker Workshop, the Den and classrooms.

Please see a suggested list below for items that will be useful for us to use at school.

Students and families can use the designated bins in the Sky Space inside the school to drop off donations.

These materials are often items that get thrown out or recycled and can become amazing learning tools.

They will not be returned and need to be clean, non-toxic and free of sharp edges. Unfortunately, due to Health Guidelines we are NOT able to accept egg cartons, styrofoam meat trays, tin cans and toilet paper rolls.

Here are some of the things that we would love to collect for our dwindling supplies:

  • Old Fidget spinners
  • Artificial Turf/Grass
  • Old Sequin Pillow cases
