The CBE Dates of Significance Events Calendar
Dear Families,
It has been a busy week, especially for teachers who are all working on report cards. A reminder that we do not send a paper copy home. Report cards will be online through your MyCBE account on Monday January 27 for parents to read. For an overview of what your child is learning at each grade, see this link.
Online Volunteer Security Checks
Hooray- we have 85 parents cleared to volunteer this year! A reminder that Ms. Gillott will be processing these through next week, so we are encouraging families to apply now, getting the online application started before she leaves. While the new administrator will pick this up, it might not be top of mind in the first few weeks.
If you started the process in the fall, please check your status in the CPS portal. The school is not automatically informed when clearance is granted. Applicants need to send the pdf Clearance Letter to the school so we can connect the CBE and the CPS database.
- You can start the process in your MyCBE account by filling out the Annual Volunteer Form and uploading your identification.
- Teachers may be reaching out to parents looking for volunteers in the classroom. If you have your security clearance and can help out, watch for opportunities in the Friday messages from teachers.
School Enrichment Society Fundraiser
The School Enrichment Society is excited to announce a fundraising opportunity with Westcoast Seeds! From January 20th to February 10th, they are partnering with this wonderful company to raise funds for our school. When you make a purchase, 40% of the profits will go to our School Enrichment Society and be used for a variety of things like student resources, activities and teacher appreciation. Some recent examples of what raised funds include: The One World Drum Residency, Alien Inline skating, Outdoor Learning Gear lending library supplies, field trip bussing costs a $10/ student, teacher appreciation dinner during parent teachers and more!
Here’s how you can order:
1. Visit West Coast seeds fundraising if interested at this link https://fundraising.westcoastseeds.com/pages/organizations/dr-freda-miller-school-enrichment-society
2. Shop for your favorite high-quality seeds.
3. Select Dr Freda Miller School Enrichment Society from the organization drop down at check-out.
4. Enjoy your beautiful garden this summer!
Every purchase counts and will directly benefit our students. Please share this opportunity with family and friends to maximize our fundraiser’s success. We appreciate your support and look forward to growing together!
Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 year
- You may register your child for kindergarten for the 2025 – 2026 school year as long as your child turns five years old on or before December 31, 2025.
- We run a half day program – either morning or afternoon.
- One way busing is available to those students who are beyond the walk zone in Evergreen or reside in Walden. It is available to parents at a cost. The CBE does not provide mid-day busing for Kindergarten students.
- If you know your child will be attending in the fall, registering before March helps the school in planning for the upcoming year. The number of students we receive lets us know if we can run both a morning and afternoon program, or the potential of adding an additional class and teacher.
- In the Spring, all Kindergarten students who are registered at Dr. Freda Miller School attend an intake meeting with their parents and invited to an open house in June.
- You can see highlights of our program here!
