February 8th Update

 

Dear Dr. Freda Miller Families,

It continues to feel like spring, when we should be out enjoying winter activities. Hopefully we will see some moisture in the near future.

This week is a short one, with only 3 student days. Students have no school on Thursday and Friday due to Teacher’s Convention and no school on Monday for Family Day.

We are so very proud of our Kindergarten and Grade One students. This week they performed for their school, and again for the families able to attend. So much work goes on behind the scenes to prepare and support students for a concert to happen. A special thank you to Ms. Fornwald, our fine arts specialist for her vision, work and preparing students to feel confident and ready to perform for a larger audience. Honestly, this is no small feat.

Our next gathering is the Pink Shirt Day assembly. Our grade 2 classes will be organizing and leading the assembly for our school. Parents of Grade 2 students are welcome to join us on Friday, February 20th at 12:00 pm in the school gym.

Staffing Update

Our amazing Nigaar Kachra is away on leave until possibly the end of the school year. We are so grateful for all she has done while here at Dr. Freda Miller School. Please welcome Elham Merhi back to our school, along with Angele Borrelli to support with our bookkeeping responsibilities.  

Fun Lunch

Yearbook flyer

Your child will be bringing home a Yearbook Flyer this week. It is necessary to pre-order if your family would like one. Please note they will arrive in September and handed out then.

Valentine’s Day

If your child wants to hand out Valentine’s Day cards, please ensure they have enough for everyone in the class – names not needed. We kindly ask that you do not send in any food items or candy. Teachers will find time on Wednesday, February 11th to hand them out.
