Dear Dr. Freda Miller Families,

We hope you had a wonderful Spring Break and enjoyed days without rushed mornings. The weather is exceptionally unpredictable this spring so please send your child with all the layers and maybe even an extra pair of socks and pants for the warmer, slushier muddy days.

Thank you in advance to all the volunteers who will be donating their time to work the casino for our school community this Wednesday and Thursday. We are so very grateful to each of you. It is a significant fundraiser raising on average 70,000$. All funds go to initiatives that serve all students at Dr. Freda Miller School.

Volunteers Needed – Monday at 8 am

We need a few parents to help the Green Fools crew unload their equipment to our school gym. There is no police clearance needed, just a willingness to support and lift equipment from the parking lot to the school gym. Please respond to this email if you can help.

Scholastic Book Fair

We invite families to come back to purchase their books in person on Tuesday, March 31st between the hours of 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm.

Read-A-Thon Reminder

A friendly reminder to return Read-A-Thon forms by April 15th if your child participated in it over Spring Break.

Spring Plant Fundraiser

We are excited to have the Spring Plant Fundraiser back at Dr. Freda Miller School. Please order through this link:  https://dfmschool.growingsmilesfundraising.com/

Cookbook Fundraiser

The Curious Kids Cookbook fundraiser is a fundraising project designed to help educate K-7 students around food literacy. Let’s inspire confidence in the kitchen, while helping to raise money for the school.

Invite | Marshall Springs

MSS School Council is also proud to present an engagement session called "Mirror Mirror" featuring Alison Springer on April 16, 2026 at 6:30pm @ MSS. Food trucks will be available outside MSS starting at 5:00pm.

"Mirror Mirror is an entertaining presentation with a powerful message that inspires students to lead by embracing who they are and how they were made. Alison helps students expose the ‘lying mirrors’ in their lives and the three causes that distort how they view themselves (media, comparison and things that people say). Students will learn positive and helpful ways to protect their dignity and the dignity of others. Alison shares some of the struggles she faced being black, tall and loud, along with her academic struggles. Students will realize that their strengths and weaknesses serve a specific purpose." - https://youthspeakers.ca/speaker/alison-springer/

This is a free event for MSS community members, their families, and their children. Food trucks are an additional cost. If you plan on attending, please RSVP HERE.
