Dear Dr Freda Miller Families,

Happy snowy spring day. I hope everyone was able to connect with family and friends this weekend. The snow continues to fall, and we have a week ahead with forecasts of snow and hopefully at some point, a transition to spring rain. Please continue to send your child with all the layers, and extra socks and pants in their backpacks.

Thank you to the parents and extended families who volunteered at the DFM Enrichment Society casino. We are so exceptionally grateful for your time.

Traffic Reminders

Mornings can be busy for everyone, and I do believe we are all just trying to get our students to school safely and on time. Please understand parking directly out front of the school on the school side is dedicated to our school buses for drop-off. It is preferred not to stop there unless you are dropping off your child at or after the bell. If you still choose to stop there, then please do so knowing if you see an incoming bus, they need you to move immediately.

The school parking lot is not for drop off or pick up unless you are accessing the Before/After care – Seeds of Spice. If you are entering the parking lot, please be cautious as we had a staff member almost get hit before Spring Break.

Extra care is needed around the two main crosswalks. Please avoid stopping in the cross walk and executing a U-turn through a cross walk.

We greatly appreciate your support.

Clay Materials

We have fired up our school kiln and look forward to finding opportunities for our students to explore their ideas, understanding and creativity through clay building. Later this month, we have ceramics students from Marshall Springs joining our grade one classes to enrich their learning with clay.

We are building our clay cart and are looking for the following donations. Please send any donations to the office.

  • Sponges
  • Rolling pins

Yearbook

Our volunteer is hard to work gathering pictures and putting together the classroom pages. It is a wonderful way to remember the year and capture school memories. If you haven’t already, please pre-order a copy for your family.

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to our families for their amazing support (and patience) with the Scholastic Book Fair. We were able to get some great books into the hands of our students and the proceeds from the sale allows us to purchase just under $2000.00 for new books for our school library.

Invite | Marshall Springs

MSS School Council is also proud to present an engagement session called "Mirror Mirror" featuring Alison Springer on April 16, 2026 at 6:30pm @ MSS. Food trucks will be available outside MSS starting at 5:00pm.

"Mirror Mirror is an entertaining presentation with a powerful message that inspires students to lead by embracing who they are and how they were made. Alison helps students expose the ‘lying mirrors’ in their lives and the three causes that distort how they view themselves (media, comparison and things that people say). Students will learn positive and helpful ways to protect their dignity and the dignity of others. Alison shares some of the struggles she faced being black, tall and loud, along with her academic struggles. Students will realize that their strengths and weaknesses serve a specific purpose." - https://youthspeakers.ca/speaker/alison-springer/

This is a free event for MSS community members, their families, and their children. Food trucks are an additional cost. If you plan on attending, please RSVP HERE.
